Outlook web add-in at a glance
The Outlook web add-in runs the same in new Outlook, in Outlook in the browser and in Outlook on the Mac. It opens as a side pane, the task pane, next to the message. Guides: E-mails and signatures in Outlook, Inserting and managing snippets. The web add-in for Word, Excel and PowerPoint is described in Office web add-in at a glance.
Opening
In a new message, click the button with the primedocs logo in the ribbon.
Navigation in the task pane
With enough width a navigation rail stands at the side. Up to 600 pixels of window width it moves into the header bar. In Outlook Mobile it is not shown. User settings and profiles are reached via the user menu, as in primedocs Web.
Areas
| Area | Content |
|---|---|
| Templates | Template overview with folders, search and the list, grid and detail views. Favourites and Recently used are pinned as rows at the top. With several form groups a menu in the form header opens the group if group navigation is enabled. In narrow layout a separate button opens the preview. E-mail templates have only a preview image, no live preview. |
| Signatures | Selected language, Profile, Select signature, Insert signature. The selection follows from language and profile. |
| Snippets | Areas Favorites, Shared and Private as expandable sections, folders with breadcrumb, search across all folders and the choice of the document language for inserting. Insert by button or double-click, more actions via right-click or the three dots. With write permission, create, edit, move and delete snippets and folders, also several at once. Only snippets of the type HTML or Plain Text. HTML snippets cannot be inserted into plain-text messages. |
Auto signature
If your organisation has set up automatic insertion and you are signed in to the add-in, the add-in inserts the signature itself while composing. This also applies to messages in plain-text format. There the add-in inserts the plain-text content of the signature without images. You then need the task pane only for a different signature. The setup is described for administrators on New Outlook.
