Languages

primedocs has two language settings:

  • UILanguage: Defines the client's user interface (UI) language. Hence, primedocs will be displayed to the user in this language.
  • DocLanguage: Defines the target language for the document to be generated. This also influences the spell checker in Microsoft Office, for example.

These settings allow the user with English interface language to create a document in Spanish.

Where the languages are set

  • Datasource-wide default: In the Admin Dashboard under Settings → General Settings, the default values DefaultUILanguage and DefaultDocumentLanguage can be defined for the entire Datasource. They apply as long as a user has not made their own selection.
  • Per user: In the user settings, the UI and document language can be set individually. The chosen UI language is stored per client.
  • Per profile: The document language can additionally be set differently per profile.

If no UI language is set in the desktop client, it is derived from the Windows or Office language setting on first start; only after that does the Datasource-wide default apply.

UI languages

primedocs uses the language settings recommended by Microsoft, although languages such as "de-CH", "fr-CH" and "it-CH" are not common UI languages. The following languages can currently be used as UI languages:

EnglishNameNativeNameTagLCID
German (Germany)Deutsch (Deutschland)de-DE1031
English (United States)English (United States)en-US1033
French (France)Français (France)fr-FR1036
Italian (Italy)Italiano (Italia)it-IT1040

Document languages

Unlike the UI language, there is no restriction for the document language.
